Natural Collages
This is an activity that the kids can do all year around although they may need a little help from you.
Ask the kids to collect some bits and bobs from the garden such as twigs, leaves. pebbles and flowers, although you may want to guide them away from the roses! This can be done on a family walk around the woods, park or beach as well. Give each of the children a little bag or box to collect their bits into and watch them take great pride in finding exciting and unusual things.
When the collecting is done its time to let the kids imagination run wild. Let them organise the bits into a picture or pattern its up to them. Can be great fun getting them to base the picture on something current like the holiday season or events going on. Adding ink or paint to the pictures can really help the budding artists really finish their work off!
Its as simple as that and can really let them use their creative imagination as well as exploration skills when collecting their materials. You can also let them use PVA glue to permanently secure their masterpieces!
